Pasta with Butter

Fill a large pot with cold water. Pasta will expand up to triple its original size, so to ensure it cooks correctly, you'll need at least 1 qt. of water per every 4 oz. of dry pasta. If the water fills the pot more than of the way full, use a larger pot to prevent water from boiling over the top. Allow the water to come to a full boil. You can cover the pot with a lid to speed up boiling time. If you put your pasta in before the water boils, it can start breaking it down prematurely, causing it to become soggy. Add salt to the water as soon as it starts to boil and let it dissolve. Put pasta into the pot of boiling water and stir frequently with a long wooden spoon. Stir pasta often, around every three minutes, to prevent it from sticking together or to the bottom of your pan. Stirring also allows your pasta to cook evenly. On average, whole wheat pasta takes up to 12 minutes to cook. Drain and serve with butter. Add salt and pepper to taste
